Spent the day today park hopping with my boys. Our goal this summer was to go to as many parks as we can - ones that we haven't been to. We hit 2 new ones today. Then because they had been so good - playing together and all - I took them to McDonald's for lunch and yet another playground! But this one was indoors. I was even able to relax and read a bit of my book.
However, while I was sitting there I couldn't help but notice that so many parents just let their parents run wild, not follow the rules and scream loudly. Discipline is not bad when it is necessary. And certainly there is no need for harsh discipline, but telling your kids to follow the rules, not push, scream or climb up the slides the wrong way on the McDonald's playland certainly is not asking too much.
That is one reason I am proud of my boys. As much as they may drive me crazy on the normal day when we are home - they follow the rules in public (for the most part) and when they don't - all I have to do is give them a friendly reminder. Too bad it's not that easy when we're at home.
